Our purpose
Founded in 2025 by Dr. P. Niranjan Prabhakar, Pugal Medical & Educational Trust brings together community service, health care and education. Theni Doctor, its skin and lung speciality centre, carries this purpose into patient care.
The Trust aims to serve people through meaningful medical and educational initiatives while building services that are accessible, modern and rooted in the needs of the community.
The story behind the Trust
Mr. Rajan, son of Mr. Krishnasamy Gowder, grew up in the pre-independence era as the eldest of ten children. He continued his studies through hardship and became a respected zoology teacher at NSKP School in Gudalur, Theni.
Though he missed an opportunity to serve in the Indian Army, his teaching helped shape soldiers, businesspeople, teachers, lawyers, engineers, doctors and administrative officers across the world.
Supported throughout by his wife, Mrs. Saroja, his dedication to learning and service inspired the generations that followed, including doctors in the family serving across southern India.
Dr. Niranjan Prabhakar founded the Trust to carry that mission forward through medical care and education in Theni.
